In the spring hurricane Sandy had closed Sandy Hook National Seashore and then the government closed this fall and closed it again. Well finally last week it was open again and we decided to go there this weekend and camp Cheesquake State Park as our home base. We did some beach walking, bike riding and even a hunt for a geocache.
Beautiful sunny day and a carpet of fresh fallen leaves made for a nice camping spot. There was only one other campsite in use there.
Off to the beach we leave Winnie behind in the parking lot.
Sand built up as tall as Cheryl, from Sandy a year ago.
Walked and picked some shells and just enjoyed the salt air.
We went to the light house and by taking my picture by the base and sending in some info, will be able to claim it as a geocache.
From there we road our bikes to see a few assorted sites and really enjoyed the day
And of course what is a day at the beach without BBQ
We are hoping to still get in a camp here and there before the snow flies. It has been a great summer of camping. Next big run will be to Alanta when we go to be part of our new grandson being born!
