Sandy Hook open for business!

In the spring hurricane Sandy had closed Sandy Hook National Seashore and then the government closed this fall and closed it again. Well finally last week it was open again and we decided to go there this weekend and camp Cheesquake State Park as our home base. We did some beach walking, bike riding and even a hunt for a geocache.
Beautiful sunny day and a carpet of fresh fallen leaves made for a nice camping spot. There was only one other campsite in use there.
Off to the beach we leave Winnie behind in the parking lot.
Sand built up as tall as Cheryl, from Sandy a year ago.
Walked and picked some shells and just enjoyed the salt air.
We went to the light house and by taking my picture by the base and sending in some info, will be able to claim it as a geocache.
From there we road our bikes to see a few assorted sites and really enjoyed the day
And of course what is a day at the beach without BBQ

We are hoping to still get in a camp here and there before the snow flies. It has been a great summer of camping. Next big run will be to Alanta when we go to be part of our new grandson being born!

Happy Birthday R F

The Haas Gang all arrived safe and sound, to celebrate RF 's 87th birthday.
Two by RV and one by plane. We had a nice visit in the back yard and dined on some great food from Billy's. Below are a few assorted pics of the gathering.
The camp ground.

A little touch of fall from RF's garden.

Two die hard Boston fans showed up to help Juan root on her team.

That attracked even more.  Bosox fans.

Then we tried to keep the Florida contingent warm.

Then Dad put out the grub.

He couldn't rembrr where he put the pot holders.

It all went well and tomorrow will be another day.

35 Years and Still Going Strong

We are celebrating our 35th anniversary today at Hampton Beach NH. Woke up to a beautiful sunny day and temps on the mid 70's, doesn't get much better than that.

Started our day off at the local greasy spoon called the luncheonette and oh what an experience! Great food and huge portions and woman cook owner, with a truckers mouth. We had a great time!

Off we went on our new anniversary bikes for a ride along the beach front bike trail and local streets, to see the sites. Needless to say a tourist beach town shuts down 3 min. After Columbus Day. First time in our life we saw a McDonalds closed for the season, LOL

We walked the beach and even put our feet in the water for close to a min. And then they went numb. Great beach with a huge change of beach between low and high tide.

Ended a GREAT day with dinner at the Ocean Wok and what a great meal it was. Peking Duck and a flaming dessert.

So glad we decided to get ways for our anniversary!

Always enjoy anything by the ocean, here are a few pictures.

ps   To top it all off, it's a full moon tonight .
