Mongaup Pond The Season Begins

The last weekend of May and we are off to Mongaup Pond State Park, for a weekend get away and shake down trip for Winnie. We were lucky enough to get site 126 which is not only on the lake, but had a very nice breeze for the whole weekend. The days were very warm and the nights cooled into the 60"s for nice sleeping.

I had to run back to work on Friday morning so, Cheryl was on her own, for fishing. When I got back Friday evening she said, she had caught 8 bass and one pick. You know how fishermen are and I figured it was a tale of fish stories, cause we never catch anything here. The next morning we headed out and she began catching one after another and ended the day with nine catches! Always makes me look bad, when we are fishing.

Even the eagles gave us a show and were catching fish too. I was lucky enough to have my camera with me one time and got a couple of pretty good shots of the big bird. Besides all the other wild life and plants, there was even good eats back our campsite. Was a Great Get Away!

This is a shot of site 126

painted turtle, catching a few rays
Just one of the many bass on Sat.
Big bird starts the dive. these pics get bigger if you click on them, I think.
                                          Bang, it hit the fish
Off it goes to the nest, which we heard, has three babies in it
Was nice to see the Lady Slippers were still around
                                          Nice clump of three
                                          Oh what, another fish?
Cheryl knows how to make em dance!
I guess we would never starve, in the wild.
