The Fall Trip

Lets get the brats cooked, the clean up done and hit the road Monday morning!
Sounds like a plan.

6:00am the alarm goes off and I am ready, as my feet hit the floor, I realize I'm in trouble. I have lost feeling in my hands and feet.

I turn to Cheryl and tell her she needs to get up, she replys, "can I get twenty more mins. ?"

I say no and off we go to Crystal Run in Rock Hill. Place is closed, nurse says take a couple asprin and head to Catskill Regional, pronto. They get me right in and start running some tests and ask questions. Send me home and tell me I am dehydrated.
As we return from Catskill Regional I'm not sure if these are buzzards waiting for me or turkey's.

I get home and sit on the porch for about five mins. I turn to Cheryl and tell her to get the car ready and give me my phone.

I call Goddard and leave a message. "I'm heading to Middletown and if you can't see me I will head to ER at Orange Regional."

While on 84 Goddard calls and asks me if CR ran any scans? I say no and he says get to OR's ER!

Check in at the er is very slow and takes about two hours. But once the ball really started rolling.

Brain cat-scan, brain MRI, spine MRI, poke prod, blood, blood and a spinal tap.
All tests coming back that I am in great health! Very good to know as the numbness creeps up your legs and arms.

They finally decide on a plan and hook me up for the first of five treatments. Of
Immune. Globulin something blah, blah, blah. You have Guilin Barre Syndrome. We need to stop the spread before it gets to your lungs.

And great food to boot, both were I think!

So I ask, does this mean I am not going home today? I did get a smile out of them!

Was nice to have the free time so I could keep up my handsome appearance for the nurses'

We won't even talk about the next six days. Other then to thank everyone involved, friends, family and staff! I am touched and humbled! I am blessed.

The ten days passed and I am now home. I now know the meaning of the phrase "no place like home"

Cheryl my rock, we will get through this and be even a stronger team, then ever!
