Tossed out like trash.

Our reservation is up and they tossed us out like yesterday's trash. We had to be packed and out by noon and wouldn't ya know it, we never woke up till 9:15. But bring the pros we are we had the camper  ready to roll by 10:00 and that included making two bacon and eggs on hard rolls.

What to do with two hours???? We know , how about a bike ride to Podunk!
We even had a little spare time for Meigs Point again.
And back to camp for the final check over.

Back safe and sound and time to watch the full moon rise from our own porch.

What, where did that week go?

Holly molley, easy come easy go, times flies when you are having fun and so it goes.

What a wonderful and much needed getaway week. Perfect weather, perfect setting, great food, top of the line accommodation and the best company. Times like this make all the rest of life worth while.

Quite a regular day except we had pancakes and sausage rather than eggs and bacon. Planned on rain starting around 2:00 so we took our long bike ride early. Did a little rock stacking for fun.
Weird old hippies, right?   LOL

So much for the rain, all it did was get sunny and hot, so off to the beach we headed.

No one flies em better!

Dinner from Lenny and Joe's to round out the day.

Not quite Disney, but I did have my Disney cup while I waited for the sunset!

Getting used to this.

Just feeling blessed to be having so many days of near perfect weather in such a beautiful setting.
Went to the tip of Hammonasset Park today on the bikes and found yet another amazing world. A rocky coast line much like Maine, just beautiful.

These bikes have opened up a whole new world of exploring for us.

Of course a guy has to eat to be able to keep up with all this biking.

Then float off into another sunset.....

Picture Perfect Weather Again

Need I say more? Talk about a wonderful September day. I could take a half year of this kind of weather, dry, warm and sunny.

We took a bike ride along the coast past mansion after mansion and beauty house after beauty house. Nice to see how the other half lives and how lucky we are to be able to bike past it.

Needed a swim after that ride and we had the perfect spot to take care of that.
Cheryl was a little crowded out there though. All that swimming sure can work up an appetite .

Oh well tomorrow's another day! Can't wait !

Getting in the Groove

We seem to be settling into our groove now. Was no problem to sleep a little later and no rush at all for the bacon and eggs. When we were ready we finally got around for our morning bike ride and headed out to Meigs Point.

One of the walkways out to the beach had square signs people made and said what they were thankful for. Was a very unique idea. Here are a couple we liked .
After a little rest back at camp we headed off to the beach for some much needed rest and swimming.
Even the wild life know how to take it easy at this beach.
Headed out for dinner after a long hard day and enjoyed some New England seafood. Cheryl did the crab cakes followed by scallops and I did the oysters  .
We figured we better work them off with a fast high speed kayak ride. It ended up being a slow, sip coffee and watch the sunset ride instead.

Oh well maybe tomorrow we can get it right!

The unwinding has started.

Slept in a little and then got up for a nice breakfast of bacon and eggs. The beach seemed a little crowded, but we enjoyed our long walk any way.

Sunny and hot, didn't keep us from our bike ride. Resting up now for an afternoon swim and beach nap.

Well it was a wonderful beach day and the water was near perfect swimming temperature.
Cheryl almost fell asleep while she was in the water.
I was pretty close a few times myself. Only kidding, Cheryl says I was snoring three different times!

This was base camp for the afternoon.

After a refreshing shower we headed off to one of our favorite dinner spots, Lenny and Joes Fishtale Restaurant. We try and behave, so we split a dinner.
We figured we better work off just a few of the scallops, shrimp, clams and scrod, so we took a bike ride along the green trail.

The bridge heading into the woods.

That is the ocean behind Cheryl.

What a great bike trail, headed back to camp for coffee.

WHAT? Summer is over?

How can it be , it seems like it has just started? I remember  camping the first two weekends of July and after that, it's just a blur. Here we are sitting in Hammonasset  State Park in CT on Labor Day, 2014.

During that blur a few turns in the road did appear and we strolled down them. One was loading up Dad and Juan for the start of their new adventure of moving from NH to Nevada.

The second curve was heading down to Atlanta to lend any help we could after Anita  broke her leg and was  hampered in her ability to care got Ashton and Addi.

The final loop de loop was poor Ashton getting sick during the ordeal and then passing in onto Cheryl. It kicked the crap out of both of them. Some how they have both survived. Just now Cheryl is starting to feel almost human. Anita will take a bit longer till she is back on her feet . From what I have heard, she and Cheryl made quite a child care team. One being the arms and the other being the feet.

Word on the street is Dad and Juan are settling in quite nice too.

So the plan is to take the next week and catch up just a little on our camping, fishing, bathing, beach combing and just enjoying each other, all to our selves.

Never hurts to start with a walk on the beach and enjoy a sunset.

Even a kayak ride helps to start the unwinding .
