Parks
We spent time in a few parks. The start of the day was at Seven Hills Park, getting a face painting and hanging out with aunt Mal. Then a quick run to the airport to get Mal a flight north before SAndy hits. Later a cookout and smores party at Red Top Mountain Sate Park.

All good things must end.
With a tear in our eyes and a warm feeling in our hearts we watched the last sunset of this stay. With a final wave, it was gone! We always say the same thing,"what a wonderful paradise"

No Fish For You
Off we went to the boat launch area on our bikes, no problem, unless you don't know about a head wind. We persisted and arrived there none the worse from the wear. Watching the boats launch got Cheryl to thinking about fishing. Off we go to the fishing pier and try our luck at fishing. Was a beautiful setting and wonderful weather, but none the less, no fish. What better way to drown your saddness then a swim. While we were swimming the crabbers were checking their traps and getting stone crab claws. The season just opened. Back to camp in time for dinner and a sunset cruise in the yaks.

Out to Arrowhead
We decided we wanted to get back to Arrowhead Picnic area again, but realized they didn't allow motor homes in. We packed a picnic lunch and got on our bikes and off we went, to the park. Nice winding trail through the jungle and wonderful sand flats to see and collect all kinds of marine life. I even got to step on an eighteen inch long flounder. Was quite a nice day and the water was perfect for swimming. Back at camp we really went all out and cooked beans and franks and then headed out in the kayaks ans enjoyed yet another beautiful sunset.

Mannatee Friday
Got up a little late, sat around a little longer after breakfast, but was still lucky enough to paddle right up to a mannatee! Yes that is my hand petting the gentle giant. We had to laugh when we saw how much the mannatee's nose reminded us of Sophie's nose. LOL. Same old poop for the rest of the day, swim, bike, walk, eat, and sunset. Seems like are falling into a rut.
Play it again Sam
Woke up to another beautiful sunny and warm day. Headed out for a morning kayak ride and came across a mother and baby mannatee, and so close we could touch them! At one point they were just floating next to each other and the baby had it's fin on the mother's back. Got to see a beautiful spotted eagle ray and more birds than we could count. Headed out to the crowded beach for the afternoon and swam till we were prunes. Pork chops on the grill and then suffered through another gulf sunset. Did I mention the morning bike ride?

Dolphins and Mannatee and Welk, oh my!
Our anniversary had some great moments, once again. Took a kayak ride and ran into a pair of dolphin, a sure sign of good luck. While fishing off the bridge, we saw a 12 foot mannatee, right under our nose. Off we go to walk sea bean beach and see if we could locate a lucky sea bean. Low and behold, Dickie finds the first and Cheryl follows with three in a row, a sign of good luck. Great dinner off the grill and then off to the sunset cruise. We thought we heard some music playing and after I dipped the net in the sea, we saw where it was coming from, it was Lawrence well. We took his picture and put it below. We paddled off into the sunset.........

Man oh man ah T
Right after our flapjack breakfast we took a kayak ride and what did we come across? Mom manitee and her baby, what a wonderful treat! Paddled out to the island and did a little collecting and then back to camp. With the temp hitting the upper 80,s we decided to hit the beach and we were glad we did. The water was sky blue and almost bathtub warm. Not sure which was better, the BBQ pork or the sunset.
Fort DeSoto (fun in the sun)
We arrived yesterday after a long run south from Peachtree City, where we had visited Willie and his family. It was a great visit and I hope to post Cheryl on the zip line, at some point in this blog. It is great to be back at Fort Desoto and even though we only had a couple hours of day light, we sat and enjoyed the tranquility, until the sun set.

Mongaup Pond day two
Well to wake up to 48 degrees may seem a bit tough to some, but to us it wasn't a problem as we scared down fresh sweet bread, french toast. No rain and a little wind don't keep us from a kayak ride around the pond. Little after lunch, Judy and Doug arrived with Lukas and the fun began. We skipped rocks, kayaked, hiked, scootered, ate, giggled and pretty much did camping things. After a nice dinner from over the fire, we bid them a good bye and had a after dinner walk. Pooped, but happy we enjoy the campfire and off to bed.
Mongaup Pond " one more time"
The end of September, the leaves are changing and the temps are cooling, what a wonderful time oh year for a mountain camp out. A little rain in the air, but not enough to keep us off the lake and a very nice kayak ride, soon followed. Beautiful yellows, oranges and reds where ever we looked and the water was like glass. Was great being the only humans on the water, as we shared the space with, ducks, geese and hell divers. The campfire felt good in the cool night air and soon gave way to sleepy eyes.
