All good things must end

Well it's Monday morning and we are thinking about heading home. Yesterday was quite a day, it started in Hammonasset at 8:30am, onto Sandyhook for swimming and wave riding and then onto Sea Bright for Kristen and Phil's wedding. Spent the night in Cheesquake State park. what a great 5 days we had.

Swimming

Swimming and more swimming, you would have thought we were Ester Williams and Johny Weissmuller, today. Water and air temp were just perfect.

Poor sea robin

All that was left after fatty arbuckle was done.

The Beach

A long hard day at the beach, what can I say. Beauty sunset, great Greek dinner and a bug free campfire, as the stars all came out. Tough day.

Another day in the lives of D and C

We started the day off with a very nice breakfast of pancakes, bacon, real maple syrup and fresh brewed coffee, all prepared by our very own chef. LOL The weather cleared and we see off on a kayak adventure in the back lagoon, where we would have continued out into the ocean, but the waves were a little too big for us. Took a ride out to Meigs Point to see the nature center, all was fine till we walked in and Cheryl came face to face with a live snake. Needless to say, I finished the nature alone. Back in time for a long walk on the beach and some collecting of a few animals along the way. A long day like that can make a person very hungry and what better place to take care of that then, Lenny and Joe's seafood house.  We had them haul us out on their hand truck, but it sure was fun eating all that food. Back to camp for a hot cup of coffee, a walk on the beach and a beautiful sunset. Tough way to finish the day, as we relaxed by the campfire.

Hammonaset here we come.

We got underway this morning about 10:30, under misty skies. We headed east on 84 and through the woods on 34 east, past Yale. Took a left onto 95 north and arrived at   Hamanasset State Park, three hours later. Took our walk on the beach and just had to get in the water, which turned out to be pretty warm. Had a get away sandwich for dinner and took a bike ride' to check on the parrots. The parrots are gone. Cheryl built a nice fire as we tried to see the sun set, behind the clouds. Not a bad start at all, to a relaxing get away!
