Parting Is Such Sweet BBQ
We hit the road with a tear in our eye, yet knowing there was a treasure at the end of the road. We bid farewell to Fort Myers Beach and Poo Bar.
That picture is Poo Bar! Long story.
When you travel the older back roads, you get to see the older back road Mickey D's..... I love how the arches really go up through it.
We road for quite a few hours, but it was all worth while as we pulled into the holy grail of BBQ, The GA Pig. Amen.
Just up the road from the PIG is Jekyall Island where we are spending the night in a state campground. To work off a little of the BBQ we biked Driftwood Beach.
While we were biking this ?????? HUGE ship went past. Quite a sight.
Back to camp and in the morning we head up the dreaded I 95 North.........

Swamp Buggy Race
The track at Swamp Buggy is a figure eight style affectionately called the Mile O' Mud by race fans.
THE SWAMP BUGGY RACES!
We first went to the swamp buggy races back in the early 80's and when we realized that they were being held today, we had no choice but to attend!!! The first pictures are of some jeep class buggy's that started out fine, till two flipped just after coming out of the sippy hole.
Here are a couple of pictures of the bigger buggys, notice how they look after the engine quits in the sippy hole. Be sure to click on the pictures to see the larger shots.
When they have them running right and up on the water, they really are something to see. Here are a couple in flight....
The only reason anyone goes to the races is to just watch the races......nothing else!
Really! Oh OK and maybe eat some fine home made BBQ. If you can turn up your sound for the videos below. This is what it's all about!
Here is a link for those that just want to see a little more.

There are two Sippy holes on the track. In the Sippy holes, the ground drops precipitously. A real treat is to see the Jeep class chug through the Sippy hole, sometimes with only the very top og the buggies visible above the water line!
Why is the Sippy hole called the Sippy hole? According to local legend, a driver in the early days of Swamp Buggy racing named Sippy Morris (a name he was given because he hailed from Mississippi) was known to just about always get stuck in the track's signature depression. Thus, the legend lives on!
They come to see the most bizarre, unique, and exciting event in all of motorsports . . .THE SWAMP BUGGY RACES!

Sanibel Revisited
We did a little quick math and realized as we drove out the Causeway to Sanibel, that it was 17 years ago when we last made this trip. Boy that was sobering. We headed for the fishing peir where Cheryl had caught Sheephead fish before. What do you think were biting today?
Yep.....that is what a stringer of Sheephead look like. Of course while we were in the area we had to see the famous lighthouse.
Our mission wouldn't be complete without a stop at Jerry's, home of the ugly!!! We stopped and bought 8......
It is nice to be greeted by a hello, before you go into the store.A ride through Ding Darling preserve, a walk on the beach picking shells and a kite fly and we called it a day. There was one stop we didn't get to make, which kind of pissed us off.

All Over The Place
We were all over like fly poop today. We headed up to the peir to see if Jamie could see us on the Peir Cam. He was in Atlanta and over his computer he could see us and take our picture. Here is the picture. That is us by the first pole.
It was hard work and we need to stop and eat some great Greek food before we headed out.
We then headed out to CEJ Park and Terry was cooking some fine looking burgers!!!
We were glad that we had eaten, because we found out the burgers were for the dogs, Benny and Duncan. Oh well maybe next time.
I decided to go and find an easy cache, near by. No problem.
Like I said, nothing too it. Did I mention I hate heights and hate to bleed. At least we got to finish the day with yet another Florida sunset.....
